Profile:
Mike Barton entered professional wrestling in 1991, forming what would be a very successful team with brother-like figure, Billy Gunn. In April, 1993, the two joined the World Wrestling Federation, renaming themselves as the Smoking Gunns. Wrestling under the name of Bart Gunn, Barton enjoyed three reigns as WWF Tag Team Champions, he and Billy Gunn becoming one of the most successful teams in WWF history. In July, 1998, he was brought into the limelight when he KO'd Steve Williams to win the WWF's "Brawl for All" fighting tournament. After leaving the WWF, he joined All Japan, where he quickly won gold, teaming with Johnny Ace to capture the AJPW World Tag Team Title from Kenta Kobashi & Jun Akiyama in June, 1999. In August of the same year, he began using his real name, Mike Barton. During the New Japan vs. All Japan feud in 2001, he wrestled numerous matches in New Japan with tag partner, Jim Steele. The two surprised everyone by reaching the final of the 2001 G1 Tag League, losing to Hiroyoshi Tenzan & Satoshi Kojima in an epic match that gained them much attention. With singles victories over Genichiro Tenryu in 2001, and Toshiaki Kawada in 2002, Barton became one of All Japan's top stars, and suffered just one loss in the whole of 2002. He and Steele made a shocking appearance on New Japan's Makuhari convention in November, 2002, announcing that they would be transferring to New Japan. With his main battlefield now New Japan, Barton looks to make an impact in Japan's leading wrestling company after much success in All Japan.
